1. Introduction
Longfield Studios ("we," "us," "our") built Shoflo ("the App") as a free application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Shoflo.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Shoflo is designed as a local-first application — your personal data stays on your device.
2. Information We Collect
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Shoflo stores the following data on your device using local storage (UserDefaults). This data is never transmitted to our servers because we do not operate any:
- Show library: TV shows you save, including watch status, personal ratings, and sentiment
- Watch progress: Episode-level tracking for shows you are watching
- Preferences: Streaming platform selections, language and country filters, mood preferences, genre preferences, sort and display settings
- Taste profile: Calculated genre, platform, and language preference scores derived from your library activity
- AI chat history: Conversation history with the AI Assistant, stored locally on your device
Information Shared with Third-Party Services
When you use certain features, limited data is transmitted to third-party services:
TMDB API Requests: When browsing, searching, or discovering shows, the App sends API requests to TMDB (The Movie Database) containing search queries and filter parameters. These requests do not include any personal information or library data.
Anthropic Claude API Requests: When you use the AI Assistant feature, the following data is sent to Anthropic's servers:
- The text of your current conversation
- A summary of your library preferences and taste profile (to personalize recommendations)
This data is sent only when you actively use the AI Assistant. It is processed by Anthropic in accordance with their privacy policy and is not stored by Longfield Studios.
Apple Speech Framework: When you use voice import, speech recognition is performed on-device by Apple's Speech Framework. No audio data is transmitted to external servers by Shoflo.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or have access to:
- Your name, email address, or contact information
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Browsing history outside the App
- Financial or payment information
- Photos, contacts, or other device data
3. How We Use Information
Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, we do not use your data for any purpose. The App uses your locally stored preferences and library data solely to provide you with a personalized experience within the App, including:
- Displaying your saved shows and watch progress
- Generating show recommendations based on your taste profile
- Filtering and sorting content based on your preferences
- Powering the AI Assistant with context about your viewing preferences
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties.
The only data transmitted outside your device is described in Section 2 above (TMDB search queries and AI Assistant conversations). These transmissions are necessary to provide the App's core functionality and are governed by the respective third-party privacy policies:

5. Data Storage and Security
All personal data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device encryption and passcode/biometric locks.
We do not operate servers or databases that store your personal information. If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed from your device.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained on your device for as long as you have the App installed. You can manage your data at any time through the App's settings:
- Clear library: Remove all saved shows and preferences
- Export data: Export your library data for personal use
- Delete the App: Uninstalling Shoflo permanently removes all locally stored data
Since we do not store your data on any servers, there is no server-side data to delete.
7. Children's Privacy
Shoflo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, there is no mechanism through which children's data could be collected.

8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: All your data is already accessible to you within the App
- Deletion: You can delete your data through the App's settings or by uninstalling the App
- Portability: You can export your library data through the App's settings
- Correction: You can modify any data within the App at any time
Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not maintain copies, you have full control over your data at all times.
For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) — GDPR
The legal basis for any data processing is your consent (using the App) and legitimate interest (providing the App's functionality). Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights:
- Right of Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible to you within the App
- Right to Rectification: You can modify any data within the App at any time
- Right to Erasure: You can delete your data through the App's settings or by uninstalling the App
- Right to Data Portability: You can export your library data through the App's settings
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can stop using specific features (such as the AI Assistant) to prevent data transmission to third parties
- Right to Object: You may stop using the App at any time
For data that has been transmitted to third-party services (Anthropic) during AI Assistant usage, you may exercise your rights directly with those providers under their respective privacy policies. We do not retain copies of data sent to third-party APIs.
If you have concerns about data processing, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
For Users in California — CCPA/CPRA
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights:
- Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information is collected. All data collected is described in this policy and is stored locally on your device.
- Right to Delete: You can delete all your data through the App's settings or by uninstalling the App.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The limited data transmitted to Anthropic during AI Assistant usage is solely for providing the App's functionality and is not used for advertising or profiling.
Requests to Third-Party Services
For data that has been sent to third-party services through your use of the App (such as AI Assistant conversations sent to Anthropic), you may contact those services directly to exercise your data rights:

9. Third-Party Links and Services
The App may display information about streaming platforms where shows are available. Tapping on streaming provider links may redirect you to third-party apps or websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify users through the App or through App Store update notes. Changes will also be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. App Tracking Transparency
Shoflo does not track you across other apps or websites. The App does not use advertising identifiers, does not participate in ad networks, and does not engage in cross-app tracking. Shoflo will never request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission because it does not perform any tracking.
